DE BRUYNE IN NO RUSH TO EXTEND MAN CITY CONTRACT

The Belgium international is already tied to a deal through to 2021, but the Premier League leaders are prepared to offer lucrative fresh terms

Kevin De Bruyne is “not in a hurry” to extend his contract with Premier League leaders Manchester City.
Goal revealed back in December that the Belgium international has been offered lucrative fresh terms at the Etihad Stadium – with a proposed new deal including a €10 million signing-on fee
The paperwork is yet to be signed, though, with De Bruyne still working on a deal through to 2021.

He admits that talks are ongoing, with a delay in committing his long-term future to City down to his agent having been on a winter break.
The 26-year-old midfielder told reporters when asked for an update on his contract situation: “We are still in negotiations.
“I am waiting for an offer from the club but my agent has been on holiday for three weeks. There is nothing really new for the moment.”

Pressed further on whether he expects an agreement to be reached, De Bruyne added: “Probably. I'm not in a hurry. I still have three-and-a-half years on the contract.”
It has been suggested that City will reward a key creative influence with a new salary of £200,000-a-week.
Bonuses and image rights will then be added on top of that base salary, with De Bruyne conceding that the figures being mentioned are remarkable.
He said: “Yes, OK! I cannot complain for the moment.
“Obviously we will see what happens. Negotiations are going good but they are going quietly. That is the way I think it should be.”
Contract talks are proving to be no distraction for De Bruyne this season, as he remains a talismanic presence in Pep Guardiola’s side.
He was among the goals again in midweek as he helped City to secure a narrow 2-1 first leg lead in their Carabao Cup semi-final clash with Bristol City.
That effort has taken him to eight for the season, while he has provided a further 12 assists across all competitions for grateful team-mates.
